Carbon fibre is a hi-tec material widely used in spacecraft, aeroplanes, racing cars, boats and bicycles because of its amazing strength-to-weight ratio.
Now carbon fibre has been used for these beautiful walking sticks, and to tremendous effect!
Significantly lighter than aluminium, carbon fibre is six times stronger and these sticks can comfortably accommodate users up to 115kg (18st). However, the impact, crush and tensile strength properties of carbon fibre form only part of the story. The nature of the material allows for precision and dimensional accuracy in manufacture and also a high gloss finish. These sticks are elegant and modern - some would even say they are ‘cool'! Each weighs only 200g (7oz) and the fixed length versions can be cut to a shorter length if required. They are available a range of striking designs including black diamond, claret diamond, maroon check, indigo check and chameleon, which, as the name suggests, displays ever-changing hues in natural light – blue, grey, silver and pink. Two versions feature a ‘soft grip' handle made from waterproof Neoprene. This is not only elegant and stylish, but truly comfortable to hold and helps prevent any irritation or stickiness to the hand. Each folding stick is height adjustable between 840 and 940mm (33 and 37") and packed in an attractive bag with press fastener, which fits easily into a shopping or overnight bag.
